Indian Deed to Andrew & Lewis Johnston to land of the

Wading Place South River Middlesex Co

This Indenture made this fourteenth day of September in the thirteenth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the Grace of God of Great Britain France & Ireland King Defender of the faith & Annogt: Domini 1739 Between Andrew Woolley, Chawnetocksey, Taweenhung, Tenhoochey and Peter Duley Indians Proprietors and owners of the Tract of Land herein after mentioned of the one Part and Andrew Johnston and Lewis Johnston both of the City of Perth Amboy Gentn. Of the other Part Witneseth that the said Andrew Woolley, Chawnetocksey, Taweenhung, Tenhoochey & Peter Duley for and in consideration of the Sum of Twenty two pounds current lawfull money of New Jersey at eight Shil: p ounce to them in hand paid the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge and themselves t be fully satisfied and contented and thereof and from every part thereof do acquit & Discharge the Said Andrew Johnston & Lewis Johnston their heirs Executors and Administrators for ever by these Presents Have Given Granted Bargained Sold released and Confirmed and by these Presents Do Give Grant Bargain Sell release and Confirm unto to the said Andrew Johnston and Lewis Johnston their Heirs and Assigns All that Tract of Land lying and being in the County of Middlesex in the Province of New Jersey Beginning above the Wading place on South River at the upper corner of the Lott of Land now belonging to the Heirs of John Leonard Deceased and running West two hundred Chains or thereabouts to the Land of William Cheesman thence South to Manalapan River thence down the River as it Runs and South River to where it began Together with all and all manner of Woods underwoods Trees Meadows feedings Pastures Fishings Fowlings Huntings Mines Minerals Hereditaments and appurtenances unto the said Bargained premises belonging or appertaining and all the Estate Claim and Demand whatsoever of the said Andrew Woolley, Chawnetocksey, Taweenhung, Tenhoochey & Peter Duley their Heirs Successors & assigns of in or to the said Bargained premises or any part thereof To Have and to Hold the said Tract of Land with all and every of its appurtenances as it stands above Bounded Limitted and Described unto the Said Andrew Johnston and Lewis Johnston their Heirs and Assigns to the only use benefit and behoof of them the Said Andrew Johnston and Lewis Johnston their Heirs and Assigns for Ever, And they the said Andrew Woolley, Chawnetocksey, Taweenhung, Tenhoochey & Peter Duley for themselves their heirs Successors & Assigns by these Presents Do Covenant promise and Agree Joyntly & severally to and with the Said Andrew Johnston & Lewis Johnston their heirs and assigns that they are the true sole right and Native owners of the above bargained premises and that they have in themselves full power & authority to Grant Convey and Sell the above bargained or intended to be bargained premises and the same will Warrant and Defend to the Andrew Johnston & Lewis Johnston their Heirs & Assigns forever against all Persons whatsoever Claiming the Same in Witness whereof the said Parties to these Presents have interchangeably set their Hands and Seals the Day and Year above written.

Memorandum that on this fourteenth day of September Ann Dom- 1739 the within five Indians party to the within Instrument personally appeared before me Fenwick Lyell of his Majesties Councill for the province of New Jersey and Severally acknowledged to have Signed Seald and deliverd the Same as their and every of their voluntary act and Deed to the Users therein mentiond
